Great Schools in Surprise AZ
As a resident, real estate agent and mother of school aged children, Surprise schools have always been at the top of my concern. Since moving to Surprise in 2000, I have seen tremendous growth in schools in the area, giving residents many options for great education for their students.
The Dysart school district has signature programs to meet the needs of various learning styles and personalties of individual child. Dysart allows for “open enrollment” into the various programs through out the district at all grade levels.
Academic programs such as “Arts Academy” & “ “Integrated STEM Concept” are being offered to elementary school age children. The Arts Academy, at Desert Moon Elementary, curriculum will enrich creative thinkers and build artistic knowledge through electives such as graphic arts, theater, dance, visual art 2D & 3D, and ITV/Video production. The Integrated STEM concept offered at Canyon Ridge, is based on science, math and technology and is committed to create lifelong learners. This curriculum is based on real world problems with flexibility in collaborative learning.
Beginning its third year in the Dysart School, The Cambridge Academy offers a rigorous curriculum for grades 6th-10th. Advanced academics prepare students for advanced programs in high school such as International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement. This program will prepare students for comprehensive examinations that are graded by Cambridge University. Students that complete 9th & 10th grade Cambridge and pass the Cambridge Board of Examinations become eligible for the Grand Canyon Diploma, this allows for early entrance into college courses. The Cambridge Academy is currently offered at Marley Park, Countryside Elementary and Willow Canyon High School.
Offering further education opportunities at the High School level are Dysart’s “Signature Programs” with different curriculum offered at each one of their four high schools. These programs offer “real world” studies into specific career fields. Signature Programs currently offered include: Automative Tech, Photo Imagining, Culinary Arts, Architectural Design, Allied Health, IB, AP, Medical Occupations, Fire Science, Law Enforcement and Public Safety, JROTC, AVID, and Early Childhood Education.
West Point Towne Center, a community of 1,622 homes is located in Surprise, AZ, a suburb of Phoenix, AZ. Homes were being created starting in 1997, and newer homes were built in 2001. Inside of the community there are more than three miles of walkway and play areas. West Point Towne Center is managed by an HOA, so the play areas and walkways are landscaped regularly.
Surprise Farms is currently the largest subdivision in Surprise, Arizona. Surprise Farms is a 1,400 acre community surrounded with mountains views, and is expected to include 6,800 homes when it’s fully developed. At this time, Surprise Farms includes 14 parks, with acres of greenbelt and landscaped common areas throughout the neighborhood. When the subdivision is complete it is expected to include 150 acres of parks, greenbelts and common areas. The neighborhood includes landscaped walking paths throughout. The City of Surprise is currently putting a Community Park in the neighborhood. The park will feature basketball courts, 4 softball fields, an aquatics center, sand volleyball courts, playgrounds, ramadas and large greenbelts.
Roseview is a HOA-run community that features 3-4 bedroom homes. The community has two parks with playground equipment and covered picnic tables, and also has beautifully maintained landscaping. The parks also have large grassy areas for bringing your pets or walking around.
Royal Ranch is located in the center of Surprise, Arizona and is surrounded with mountain views. The homes in Royal Ranch were built between 2004 and 2006 and range in size from 1,500 sq. feet to over 3,800 sq. feet. The neighborhood features 4 tot lots, 2 basketball courts, 1 baseball field, 1 sand volleyball court, 9 covered ramadas with barbeque grills, and 15 greenbelts and landscaped common areas located throughout.
Rancho Gabriela is one of the newest communities in Surprise, Arizona and is surrounded by mountain views. The neighborhood has 2,225 homes with 7 parks and over 65 acres of landscaped common areas and greenbelts. Throughout the neighborhood there are landscaped walking paths which are lined with lighting. The community is managed by a homeowners association so the parks and common areas are maintained and landscaped on a regular basis.
